1. The knowledge necessary at the level of notion to perform the basic tasks:
1.1. STCW Convention Competence StandardA-III/4 – “Minimal competence standard specifications for the seafarers that are in the staff of the engine room guard sailors (guard motor mechanics)”;
1.2. SCTW Convention Competence Standard A-III/5 “Minimal competence standard specifications for performance of the job duties of a qualified motor mechanic in the engine room together with or without the crew in the existing engine room”.
2. The knowledge necessary for performance of the basic tasks of the professional activity at the level of understanding:
2.1. STCW Convention Competences Standard A-III/4 – “Minimal competence standard specifications for the seafarers that are in the staff of engine room guard sailors (guard motor mechanics)”;
2.2. SCTW Convention Competences Standard A-III/5 “Minimal competence standard specifications for performance of the job duties of a qualified motor mechanic in the engine room together with or without the crew in the engine room”.
3. The knowledge necessary for performance of the basic tasks of the professional activity at the level of use:

The professional skills qualification necassary for the ship motor mechanic are set by STCW Convention Competences Standard/Code A-III/4 – “Minimal competence standard specifications for the seafarers that are in the existing staff of engine room guard sailors (guard motor mechanics)” and SCTW Convention Competence Standard A-III/5 “Minimal competence standard specifications for performance of the job duties of a qualified motor mechanic in the engine room together with or without the crew in the engine room”.
The COMPETENCES necessary for the ship motor mechanic are determined by STCW Convention Competences Standard/Code A-II/4 – “Minimal competence standard specifications for the seafarers that are in the existing staff of engine room guard sailors (guard motor mechanics)” and SCTW Convention Competence Standard A-II/5 “Minimal competence standard specifications for qualified motor mechanic for performance of the job duties in the engine room together with or periodically without the crew in the engine room”.
